The first scene where Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) and Tommy DeVito (based on the real Tommy DeSimone played by Joe Pesci) are grown up takes place in the 1960's at an old diner near Idlewild Airport-- (today's JFK) in Jamaica, Queens, New York City. A diner did exist back then on South Conduit Avenue, but has since been demolished. This really old-fashioned diner, the Airline Diner, part of the Jackson Hole franchise, still exists and is constantly frequented by fans. Henry and Tommy begin their adult lives heisting trucks. Soon it will go as far as the greatest heist in U.S. history--the Lufthansa cargo heist of March 11, 1978. This scene continues into the Bamboo Lounge and ends with Jimmy "Two Times."
