Heavy Storm at Mid Continent Railway Museum - July 14, 2021
A severe but brief storm swept through North Freedom and Baraboo on the evening of July 14, 2021. Mid-Continent's webcams captured the storm as it rolled in. The strong winds caused numerous trees to break or lose limbs around the museum property and knocked over 30 trees down onto Mid-Continent's rail line. Fortunately, the winds and tree fall caused minimal damage to museum structures and rolling stock. Thanks to quick cleanup efforts by volunteers and staff, Mid-Continent is expected to be open ready for operation in time for the weekend.
The video features views from two different webcams. The second sequence shows the dramatic shift in wind direction as the storm hit.
