Analysis. The Godfather Part II is a 1974 crime film directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The screenplay is written by Coppola and Mario Puzo based on Puzo’s 1969 novel. The film stars Robert DeNiro as Vito Andolini, Al Pacino as Michael Corleone, Diane Keaton as Kay John Cazale as Fredo Corleone, Robert DuVall as Tom Hagen, Talia Shire as Connie Corleone, Lee Strasberg as Hyman Roth and G. D. Spradlin as Senator Pat Geary. The film was edited by Peter Zinner, Barry Malkin, and Richard Marks, the cinematography is by Gordon Willis, and the music is by Nino Rota.
