Are You Being a Dummy?
Don’t be a dummy… use a dummy sequence! A dummy sequence is a placeholder sequence comprised of the best sections of your clips. It’s used as a way to quickly arrange your clips in your timeline much faster.

To create a dummy sequence you’ll scrub through all of your footage selecting the IN and OUT points of those clips to lay down onto your timeline inside the dummy sequence. I personally like to group collections of clips on my timeline. So for example if I have multiple drone shots I’ll group those together on my timeline and change their label color to pink to signify that those are drone shots. Then if I have a collection of clips that are a specific scene (let’s say for example a shot of the talent jumping into a pool) I’ll then create another collection of clips that are grouped together on my dummy sequence and label them blue to know that these are my pool jumping clips.

When I use to work at a production company where we’d turn massive amounts of content on site in extremely short amounts of time, this is the method I’d use to rapidly edit my sequences, and I can assure you, I never missed a deadline.
