In this video I will be going over the information of that night, and footage after the tornado ripped thought town. I would like to point out that I have been a mile away from a few tornados over the years. I have seen the aftermath from tornados, I have even posted videos of the after math. I will post a card on a playlist of aftermath of one that hit Oklahoma city, if you want to see a time line of how long it takes to come back from a hit.

I would like to make a quick disclaimer, some of the information that I have, like on the government website weather.gov doesn't match up with other info. They don't even match the there same page. Like the map they point out it started at town north of where it did, and only traveled on the ground for 46.9 miles, down in the info section they say 50 miles. I will do my best to put it together, links down below.

Are story will start Saturday May 9, 1953 with a seasonal normal temperature, the sky was partially cloudy with a strong south wind. Mother's Day weekend was otherwise in full swing. As out-of-town visitors filled the town to spend time with their mom's. People where having a great time as an evening storm developed south west of town.

The storm approach from the south with the EF-3 tornado inside. It started with the roar of an express train two blocks south of main street (Lincoln Avenue) Some rain fell as the wind blew hard, accompanied by some hail stones that was as large as a man’s palm, but they were unusually flat and slightly frozen.

The tornado was peasant in cutting an irregular destruction path from First to Fifth streets in the business section, it was ripping, howling, screaming, destroying everything in its path with 165 mph winds.

As houses and buildings were getting torn apart. We had people like 17-year-old Faith that was with her mom, and 6-month-old sister visiting her grandmother in a second-floor apartment on Main Street. The grandmother in her rocking chair holding on tight to the 6-month-old. All of them got sucked from the living room into the hallway, as debrie pilled on top of them from other buildings.

Faith found herself digging out of the timber, bricks, ceiling tile. Her mouth was full of plaster. She found her self in great back pain. Anything more than a 45-degree angle was imposable of doing. Her mother was unconscious for awhile. When she came too she began looking for everyone. Grandmother was on top of the 6-month-old saving her from most of the flying debrey. They worked their way to a neighbor's apartment and, screamed for help. Some friends rescued them seeing that she needed a hospital they found there pickup with a tree branch on top. They removed the tree branch so they could transport her to the Omaha, hospital. Her mother and grandmother were each taken to different hospitals.

She found out that her grandmother died at the hospital, she didn't leave her hospital until August. After that she wore a back brace for two years. After all these years she still experiences back pain as a result of the incident.

Thank-you for all your comments and viewing the video. I have other videos I would like you to view.
