Chris Hong
Tech Lead | ex-Metacore
Live service in gaming is a constantly evolving sector that is subject to user feedback, making it labour-intensive. In addition, the continuous monitoring and maintenance work required also adds to the burden.
In this session, speaker Chris Hong will share his experience of automating LiveOps from his work at Ubisoft, Smilegate, and his previous companies. This includes insights into designing a LiveOps automation system, evaluating your service and game, and preparing for your technical design. Chris successfully created an automated LiveOps system for a console game at Ubisoft, and designed a similar system for real-time multiplayer mobile games. Currently, he works on a centralized game backend system. His automated LiveOps design follows three steps of design flow and has three implementation points, providing benefits such as increased productivity and predictability while reducing errors for game production and player support.
