Testing my aircraft engine during flight after a complete carburetor overhaul - S03 E02
After almost two months of work on the engine, it was finally time to give her a spin again. The reason for doing all the work, was a slight vibration at low idle, which can be caused by a lot of different things. Did all of the work solve the issue? Well, I got airborne again! I addressed a lot of possible solutions, which improved the situation but not solved it completely.
To sum it all up, here's a list;
Replaced all the spark plugs
Reinstalled the spark plug caps
Overhaul of both carburetors (ultrasonic cleaned and parts replaced)
Replaced the intake manifold rubbers
Replaced the carburetor drip trays
Replaced both air filters
Replaced all the fuel lines
Synchronized both carburetors
I still have the low idle vibration. Not always but frequent enough to keep digging into this problem.
The next thing to rule out: the low voltage side of the ignition. The first step in that process, is getting both ignition modules overhauled. But more on that in the next episode.
