Poseidon aims to desalt the Ocean - sounds good until you look at the facts and the record. Their only plant, in Tampa Bay, turned out to be a sort of "HALLMARK OF DISASTER" in terms of schedules, costs and professionalism.
Now, they are claiming that their current project will only cost $1100/acre foot -- more than twice the highest current cost of water, and about 4 times what Huntington Beach currently pays. Poseidon seeks handouts, so that OTHERS who don't need their water will have to pay a subsidy for it, while they sell it to developers for NEW houses that don't benefit those paying for the extra subsidies.
But that's not the worst of it: desalting seawater is extremely energy-intensive. It works when you've got natural gas and oil to burn, as does Saudi Arabia; but they all use evaporative techniques, not Reverse Osmosis membranes.
The only big plant using RO is Poseidon's controversial mishmash in Tampa Bay, which they profess NOT TO KNOW THE COST OF!!
But if that's their only claim to a track record, and if they don't know what it costs, what are they doing trying to make up cost figures?? They have no facts. As they admit.
