“success.mp3” is a sound effect I recorded on trumpet for use in my videos, based on the “Tada” sound effect from Windows XP. Soon I found myself in need of a success song to be used in videos at the completion of a hard tower, something more substantial than just a 2-second sound effect. So, I expanded the sound effect into a 4-minute fanfare for concert band beginning with a trumpet solo playing the sound effect.
The entire piece remains at a steady tempo of 143 beats per minute, but with time signature changes throughout. It begins with a triumphant 4-quarter-note feel presenting the main motif, then a contrasting 12/8 triplet-feel section with emphasis on beats 2 and 4. Following that is a quieter half-time feel section before returning to the original feel. The piece ends with the full ensemble playing a C major chord, just like the original “Tada” sound effect.
