Marcey Yates - Live From Midtopia
Nebraska hip-hop artist Marcey Yates stopped by Midtopia's music studio this summer after performing at Elsewhere Fest 2024. Accompanied by DJ getEjikewithit, Yates' skill as an emcee is clear in this live studio session.
The lyrics in the opening track 'Girl City,' tell a story of moving on from a past relationship. The story and beat will running around your head for the next week. Yates slows things down a bit on 'Science' but showcases his talent as a writer with some clever wordplay on this track. A bit of a different beat on 'For This' brings us home and closes out the session with a strong chorus hook.
Marcey Yates is music producer, rapper, and community advocate from Omaha, Nebraska. Yates is also the founder of Culxr House, a community-minded creative hub for artists and entrepreneurs in the Omaha area to be able to grow their talents and access resources to transform their art into economic opportunities. It aims to bridge social and economic gaps by fostering talent and artistry within the inner city. Marcey's involvement in both music and community activism highlights his commitment to using his platform for positive change and cultural enrichment.
