Miep Gies start working at Opekta
On this day in 1933, Miep started work at Opekta, the company that Otto Frank had founded in Amsterdam a few months earlier. Opekta was a
company which was licensed to sell pectin. Opekta was also the name of
the gelling agent used to make
homemade jam.
It was located at Prinsengracht 263.
The back of the building became the hiding place of the Frank
family, the
Van Pels
family and
Fritz Pfeffer.
