Amy interviews Streambed Media's Michael Casey & Jenn Sanasie. Streambed Media is both a tool suite that enables creators to register, manage, market and monetize their work and aligns creators in the digital media value chain; and a producer of original content. Online media drives the global economy. Yet the social media-driven “attention economy” is pitting participants against each other and disincentivizing quality. Streambed Media offers a new approach: the “engagement economy.”
Using Open Index Protocol, Streambed posts and tracks content on the creator’s behalf. Creators then receive robust analytics on the way their content travels around the Internet. Users can then search, verify, and act upon content’s associated rights and contractual terms.
The web was always intended to be an open space — of, by & for the People. But the web has become monopolized by a handful of walled garden platforms who control the infrastructure, because when the web began, the technology didn’t exist to build an open source protocol for indexing & distribution.
Open Index Protocol (OIP) is an open source specification for a persistent worldwide index for data publishing, file distribution and direct payments. OIP is permissionless, it uses blockchain technology and distributed networking to operate such that record indexing, file storage/distribution and transaction management are carried out collectively by the decentralized network.
