Frontal Lobotomy Museum in Portugal. Is this the Worst Nobel Prize Ever?
I have noticed that many people are interested in the lives of neurosurgeons. I flew to Portugal for a work meeting, and I had a chance to visit Egas Moniz Museum which is more than two hours from Lisbon, but only 45 minutes from Porto. I got to see what an amazing person this individual was, and I got to appreciate how fertile his mind was. However, his Nobel prize-winning procedure -- frontal lobotomy -- did not stand the test of time. In contrast, another procedure he invented -- cerebral angiography -- is experiencing a massive renaissance.
