This Writing Problem Is "Significant"
When writing research papers and reports it is often tempting to use the word "significant" when discussing your results but reviewers do not like this as it can be confused with 'significant" in its statistical context.
In this video I discuss the other words you can use but also outline how these alternative words differ in their meaning in terms of their 'magnitude'. This video is therefore aimed at helping not yet fluent English speakers understand the differences between the options a thesaurus will offer you for "significant" (or "important") especially since many of them are never suitable for academic writing.
From 4:36 I also talk about the vocabulary you can use instead of "insignificant' which, although not a statistical term, should not be used in your academic writing.
