655. There is neither birth nor destruction where the ignorant see impermanency; nothing is ever destroyed, what is seen [as real] is due to [the idea of] a causal agency. How is the unseen [born]? By what does the impermanent world come into existence?
656. [According to Suzuki, verse 656 is the second line of verse 62 in Chapter III. However, verse 62 is also included as verse 657. I’ve put the whole of verse 62 here because it doesn’t fit into the next group because of miscounting. This counterbalances the mistake made in verse 613]
Beings are subdued by the reception (samgraha), and are brought into subjection by the moral precepts (sila); they are removed from philosophical views by transcendental knowledge (prajna) and are nourished by the emancipations.
