update As this is attracting a rapidly growing amount views, may I just say this recording is intended for avid listeners of shortwave radio. It's not to promote any disaster movie or other such silliness. It's not interference - it's not static - it's not a plasma television (I'm not sure who the hell buys such TVs these days) it's just what we call an 'oddity' that so far has no legitimate explanation until someone records the same thing. All other cooky explanations welcomed.

Yes, I've called this spine chilling. As I was recording this, it began to pitch up by itself at around 1:16.

It did send a chill down my spine... things don't usually change their pitch once they're being broadcasted, so I would dare say it's not a data transmission.

I've never heard this before, and it's another area of the band where I don't usually hear much activity.

Received in upper side band.

My only other guess would be some sort of radar, but no idea, I just know I can't listen to it in the dark...
