Jacob Dont Violin Etude #16 op. 37
Bernard Chevalier, violin. Etude #16 is the last of the series for me to record. You can find all 24 in my playlist Jacob Dont Violin Etudes op. 37. #16 is quite tiring in the left hand. Build up your strength! It's up to you if you choose to do the perfect 5th stretch. I opted for the safer string crossings. Dynamics are quite difficult in this etude. You'll probably notice how I can't make a quality sound in the piano measures because of the stiff, unyielding Evahs. Perhaps I could have done better with a heavier bow? My 62 gram bow is on loan to a friend now.
In sum, this one isn't too hard but needs attention to dynamics. All Dont's etudes are filled with interesting harmonic modulations which make the playing fun!
