Recorded live at the October 2023 Lacpug Meet.
With the rapid rise of artificial intelligence in all creative fields including film & video post-production, is the assistant editor role all but doomed? Or, on the contrary, are there opportunities for the assistant editor to automate and outsource a large portion of their technical duties so they can evolve back into a creative role in tandem with their editor? While nobody knows the future of creativity in the age of AI, this panel will examine how to stay relevant as an assistant editor in the age of artificial intelligence while also discussing the challenges and fears inherent in surviving the most radical inflection point in the history of modern technology.
This panel is moderated by Zack Arnold (ACE) - founder of Optimize Yourself as well as a 20-year veteran editing film & television - and includes television assistant editor (and MPEG board member) Ashley McKinney, feature & tv assistant editor (and MPEG board member) Scott Jacobs, as well as VFX editor, assistant editor, and co-founder of Master the Workflow Richard Sanchez.

Hosted by Michael Horton.
