What to do about damaged wood floor in the foyer?
The wood floor in this entryway was disgustingly dirty but could not be scrubbed clean. Solutions included replacing the flooring, sanding it down and restaining, installing tiles over it, or painting it. But I decided to simply cover it with a rug. I bought an inexpensive rug and cut it to size using a pair of scissors. The edges of the rug will not fray. The rug pile will not come off along the cut edges. You don’t need to treat the edges. The rug has rubbery backing, and the fact that I cut it to fit snugly within the doorway of the coat closet will help keep the rug in place.
