This is the first time you encounter words that look identical. For Chinese beginners, this is one of the most confusing part. In linguistic terms, they are homonyms: words that have identical spelling and pronunciation, whilst maintaining different meanings.
In Chinese, you can differentiate them with the tones: ”yuan” and “yuan”.
But the truth is, the Chinese differentiate them with the context most of the time, even though they are not always conscious about it.
It's essential for those who are learning Chinese as beginners to understand this phenomenon, which exists in English too:
You can book a table, and, you can read a book.
That’s why we learned these two sentences:
Xuexiao hen yuan.
Diqiu shi yuan de.
That the earth is round is a fact, while the school is far away is just a status, from the point of view. It cannot be a simple fact because if you live somewhere else, the school won’t be far away any more.
But the fact that the earth is round is a simple fact. That’s why the sentence structures are so important for you, especially because you are not learning any characters yet. But we will get to that soon, too!
The vocabulary belong mostly to two groups:
Sth - So nouns
How - So adjectives.
And words that connect them, we call them “links”. Using the formulas we’ve learned from lesson 1 - 5, I will now say 40 new sentences …by randomly putting all the vocabulary together using these two structures, and I guarantee you, although they are new sentences, you will understand them all.
Now, let’s get started. How many of them can you understand instantly? This time, you don’t need to learn extra. Just listen to it and feel it. Maybe, you don’t understand them at first. In that case, pause and try to understand each element. Then see the translation. Then, listen to it again.
These sentences are:

21 zheli de chuntian bu leng.

22 gongyuan shi lv de.
The park are green.
23 shui bu tai re.
The water isn't very hot.
24 diqiu hen mei.
The earth is beautiful.
25 niunai shi wo de.
The milk is mine.
26 wo bu tai gaoxing.
I'm not very happy.
27 ni zhende shangxin ma?
Are you really sad?
28 zheli hen re!
Here is very hot!
29 fangzi shi xin de.
The house is new.
30 fangzi shi ershou de.
The house is second-hand.
31 tian bu shi lan de.
The sky is not blue.
32 shan bu shi lv de.
The mountains aren’t green.
33 gongsi bu shi wo de.
The company isn't mine.

Germany belongs to Europe.
