In this video, we explore the ventilation dynamics of a carpark basement using jet fan fresh air fans and exhaust fans to control fire and vehicle exhaust contaminants like carbon monoxide. The simulation is conducted using Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS), a powerful open-source tool for modeling fluid flow, fire, and smoke propagation.
We demonstrate how FDS excels over traditional CFD codes in simulating complex ventilation scenarios, providing insights into both fire safety and pollution control. Results are visualized using ParaView, which allows for advanced rendering techniques, including the creation of angled slices—something not possible with FDS's default viewer, Smokeview.
Stay tuned for in-depth simulations and tutorials. If you have any questions or want to see more examples, leave a comment or join our Telegram group, StreamCFD Discussions!
