Poświętno Meteorite - the second meteorite fall found in Poland in 2025
On the night of July 24, 2025, at 1:28 AM, a very bright fireball—a superbolide—was observed in the Polish sky. The phenomenon was recorded by Skytinel network cameras, and calculations performed by Mateusz Żmija and independently by Gabor Govago showed that 300-400 g of meteorites reached Earth. A fall zone was determined, and Skytinel network members immediately proceeded to that area. Nearly three weeks later—on August 12 and 13, 2025—Magdalena Skirzewska and Łukasz Smuła found the first fragments of a new Polish meteorite—the Poświętno meteorite.
