Xr Naivety Towards Reality
A few weeks ago Extinction rebellion set social media alight with a wonderful banner aligning themselves with the Met police,
Of course it was all a mistake and they quickly released a statement telling us all we just didn't get it and weren't able to read into it properly.
This isn't the first mistake, they continually make them at the cost of historic abuse from the cops and also outright stupidity towards those that have suffered and still do daily at the hands of this brutal racist institution known as the Police.
Orgreave, Hillsboro, The miners strike in general and anywhere else they have been ordered to bruise and batter people up, the anti fracking protests and the suburban city streets daily boroughs of the city
Then there was the case of sending flowers to the notorious custody suite at Brixton with a thank you note for a wonderful stay?...
Everytime we have been to Xr events we have seen fake love and outright naivety towards the police that puts others at risk.
We have friends who have been arrested and their phones and belongings have been also taken into custody as the person looking after them also got arrested, this made one of our friends very ill indeed, the thought of the cops having her phone,
See she wasn't going back to the office or the day to day 9 - 5, she was going back to the frontline where she lived and she thought she would be putting everybody at risk once her phone had been compromised,
Then there was the legal observers and the night they all decided to join in the protest, putting the legal observer role at risk and adding to Green & Black cross distancing themselves.
Here is one occasion of many where I was singled out and made to feel like a pariah yet again at an XR event.
After being punched in the lower back area by a nice filthy Gavva I decided to let them know I wasn't happy.
At this point the people around me didn't unite to help me out, they united to show their embarrassment towards me and also pulled me out in front of the police to let me know.
You only have to see the cops face when you can clearly hear me tell somebody off camera I wont be told how to act.
This was a very unsafe environment for me to be in, I know what to expect from the police and know what i'm going to get, they also know me from protest, but when everybody else there looks down on you for being yourself it quickly turns your mind to mush.
I was alone and acting autonomously, I was filming for evidence and protection of others but at that point I figured none of these needed my protection or deserved it.
This was one of about five occasions, we still have lots of interesting footage from the Xr festivals which we havent put together yet and havent decided what to do with but time will tell.
The banner they walked through london with prompted this video in memory of all those on the street, on the pickets, in the jails falsly accused and anywhere else where they have suffered.
