Kirin 980 processor will be the engine of the Huawei Mate 20 cell family with 7 nanometer technology.
The processor that will give life to the next Chinese high-end phones will be 7 nanometers for the Mate 20 that are expected to be announced sometime in the last quarter of the year. Huawei has been using proprietary processors in home-designed cell phones for several years.
The Kirin 980 will be the successor of the Kirin 970, the processor that gives life to the Huawei P20. This processor has a design of 10 nanometers and Huawei promoted it as relevant because it includes a neural processing unit NPU that allows the creation of artificial intelligence functions.
The Kirin 980 could be the first 7-nanometer processor to hit the market, but only if Apple wins. The manufacturer of the iPhone will supposedly place the A12 processor on at least two of its iPhones to be launched this year; the A12 chip would be 7 nanometers. The size of a processor measured in nanometers is important because the smaller the size of the transistors, the faster the execution speed.
As for Mate 20, the cell phone that will include the Kirin 980, is expected with a battery higher than the 4,000mAh that we have in the P20 Pro, a triple camera in the back, 6 or 8GB version of RAM, Android Pie and a 6.3 inch screen.
