The Musee du Louvre, originally a royal palace, but now one of the largest and most visited museums in the world, is a must-visit, home to the famous Mona Lisa, the Nike of Samothrace, and Venus of Milo. Parts of its structure go back to the 13th cent., while the larger sections date from the 16th and 17th centuries. Its most recent addition, the Glass Pyramid, serves as its main entrance. There are about 35.000 objects on display. I visited the Louvre while in Paris in 2003-4, and in 2011 with my granddaughters Cybele and Camille.
