Processing line for fresh chamomile – separating before drying
By preselecting fresh chamomile before the drying, one can save energy and effort in the subsequent steps depending on the production focus, but request that every drying facility has such a processing capability – that is, such a fresh chamomile processing line. The cylindrical separator SEP is used for that - separating the harvested material into two fractions. First fraction mainly consists of tops of the plants, rich in flowers, mostly no longer than 50 mm. Second fraction consists of mostly stems, longer than 50 mm.
Additionally, the line consists of easy to fill - long and wide dosing conveyor, which gives uniform flow of the material. Another inclined conveyor takes the chamomile to the cylindrical separator. Every component of the line has wheels to facilitate moving from the dryer to the dryer, and for easy storage.
The chamomile should be dried in very short time after harvesting or spread out in shade into thin layer to avoid spoilage. It should be placed into the dryer as soon as possible, making such an approach less practical for higher capacities.
The chamomile flower head is of greatest value, so maximizing it’s content is the goal. The longer stem plant material is usually collected as well, as harvesting conditions are never ideal. This material is usually cut up into smaller pieces before drying and then placed into the dryer separately.

For higher capacities – of up to 1000 ha, one can employ “all-on-dry” processing technique. There are many videos of our equipment, where chamomile is dried immediately after harvest, stored, and then processed in order to obtain – flower head, pulvis, petal and stems, etc.
