Due to several unique circumstances, smoke from Canadian wildfires spread out throughout most of the northeastern United States. This caused some of the worst air quality readings throughout the region in several decades. A reading of 8-10 typically means that the air is healthy, and the higher the number, the more unhealthy the air is. The air quality in my area was in the high 200s, and there were some areas in Pennsylvania with readings in the 500s. Basically, it's extremely unhealthy to stay outside for long periods of time. I maybe spent a total of 5 minutes outside today, and of course I've refrained from opening windows and external doors. In addition to the smoke particles, the sky is an orange color. The phone doesn't capture the color of the sky perfectly, but you can imagine it as the tint of a polaroid photo. The immensely poor air quality should last for another day or two, but no one knows how severe the situation will be.
