Together, We’re Changing the Story for Young Readers
In August 2023, Winsome Wishes for KIDS introduced the PAF (Preventing Academic Failure) reading program across four Jamaican schools with small to medium student populations. It was a bold step in our mission to transform literacy outcomes—and one filled with both challenges and meaningful breakthroughs.
Each school faced real struggles, from the heartbreaking loss of a PAF-trained teacher to staffing changes and illness. But through it all, our educators remained committed, and so did the children.
With the consistent support of the PAF program and the addition of GraphoGame—our offline, phonics-based reading app—students in the early childhood divisions began to show steady, measurable improvements. Teachers reported stronger phonemic awareness, better letter-sound recognition, and growing confidence among young learners who previously struggled to engage.
This video is a tribute to that resilience, progress, and partnership. It’s a glimpse into what’s possible when the right support reaches the right hands—and hearts—at the right time.
