The Journey of Plastic - an animation by EEI Phd Researcher Freija Mendrik
The Journey of Plastic uses stop-motion animation to show how plastic is created and illustrates issues around single use plastic and its impact on our environment.
The animation was created by Freija Mendrik, a PhD Researcher with the Energy and Environment Institute at the University of Hull. Through her research, Freija aims to understand and predict how microplastics move through the Mekong river in Vietnam and out to sea.
Freija is part of the EEI's Plastics in the Environment PhD Research Cluster and has undertaken fieldwork in the Mekong delta as part of the River of Plastic project with the National Geographic. She was recently awarded an early career researcher grant by the National Geographic.
