Streets of London - Fingerstyle / Instrumental Cover
Cover of the popular folk song by Ralph McTell, originally recorded in 1969. This arrangement follows a similar tempo to the original recording and the same song structure, except for an extra bar I added for the outro.
The arrangement is in two distinct parts. The first two verses and choruses are played as a solo acoustic fingerstlye piece, with a subtle cello and violin string section behind the guitar. I have previously recorded the MIDI straight in using the Goidin Synth Access guitar, but on this occasion I added the strings after recording the acoustic using an Akai keyboard controller. I would usually play my solo acoustic pieces without a metronome, but I had to use a click track here (hence the headphones) so that the string part would be in time with the acoustic.
The second half of the piece is played as a full band instrumental, complete with bass, drums, rhythm, and the vocal melody on lead with some embellishment / improvisation.
