Mi Aldea - Los Gavilanes - Tormey Woods
A couple of weeks ago I had the wonderful opportunity to perform at the Abbaye de Cassan when I was asked to step in last minute for a concert with Eric Laur (who's playing the piano in this video). Though I'd gone in feeling a little nervous, having only had a few days to learn the repertoire (a mix of Baroque and Spanish music), it ended up being an absolute blast and one of the most beautiful places I've performed!
Mi Aldea is a zarzuela piece from Jacinto Guerrero's "Los Gavilanes", and my first forray into zarzuela! I had a blast learning this, I'd never realized just how operatic zarzuela actually is. I love singing this, and the next step will be to have the pronunciation and style more polished for the next time I perform it!
