Corporate sustainability strategies are dominated by carbon emissions, energy and NetZero, but less direct attention is paid to materials use and waste. This deflects from the significant level of carbon emissions linked to the way material is handled and used, not to mention the higher cost of raw materials and stricter laws on waste.
Understanding where waste is generated and where it is processed is therefore crucial to understanding its impact and identifying improvements in the system that maximise the use of this material and reduce its carbon impact.
