This time the audio continues after the connection is established, letting you hear what is going on once the speaker turns off.
The 'ping pong'ing back and forth between the two modems can be clearly heard here, and this happens when the connection is idle. The Telebit protocol uses a large number of channels at different frequencies, and could dynamically assign them to either modem, allowing the modems to split that available bandwidth. With no traffic the modems are constantly handing control back and forth, which is what you're hearing after the connection is established.
