Dial Up Modem Sounds: US Robotics Courier HST (viewer request)
@jrherita requested a recording of Courier HST, so here it is!
USR introduced Courier HST (High Speed Transfer) in 1986. HST provided 9600 bps at a time when a fast common modem would be using V.22bis (2400bps). The standard was expanded twice: once in 1989, adding 14400bps and 16800bps, and again in 1992 to 21000bps and 24000bps.
Presented here is an example of a connection at 16800bps, though it should be noted that in my testing the negotiations all sounds more-or-less the same, regardless of speed.

The Asterisk server records the call, putting the caller in the left channel, and the answerer in the right.
