February is Heart Health Month and we are being joined by Dr. Michelle Wallace to discuss Adult and Kids heart disease in the Black community.
Dr. Michelle Wallace is a pediatric cardiologist with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Cardiology. She is an assistant professor of pediatrics at Emory School of Medicine and adjunct assistant professor of pediatrics at Morehouse School of Medicine. A proud graduate of Georgetown University and Morehouse School of Medicine, she completed pediatric residency at Children’s National Medical Center and cardiology fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. Her clinical interests include management of patients with dyslipidemia, prenatal management of congenital heart disease, and general care of patients with congenital heart disease from birth to adolescence. She is the Medical Director for the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Preventive Cardiology program, Chair of the Emory Department of Pediatrics DEI Committee, and Co-Chair of Emory School of Medicine’s African American Women’s Collaborative. In recognition of her clinical and diversity, equity, and inclusion work she has been honored with the Emory School of Medicine Site Based Award for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and the Emory Women of Excellence Award for Distinguished Leadership. She has also been recognized over multiple years by Georgia Trend Magazine and Atlanta Magazine as a Top Doctor. In her free time, Dr. Wallace enjoys traveling, Detroit Ballroom dancing, Chicago Stepping, hiking, and completing community service with her sorority sisters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
