This was our first time to Yosemite National Park and we loved it even more than we imagined.

Angie and I loved hiking from McGurk Meadow to Dewey Point and camping at Dewey Point. At around 8 miles round trip and not a lot of elevation gain we had a couple of easy days hiking through beautiful meadows, forest, and out to the rim of Yosemite Valley where we hand a stunning view of the valley and El Capitan. We couldn't have picked a better day to book too because we had some nice rainfall and a little thunder roaring over us without being too close to be concerning and then in the evening when we were chilling at camp a rainbow appeared right down the center of Yosemite Valley.

You technically take two trails, the McGurk Meadow Trail which goes for the first two miles from the trailhead before reaching the Pohono Trail which continues even on past Dewey Point where we stopped. So there is a lot more wilderness that we need to go back and explore!

I would recommend this trail for anyone looking for a chill overnight hike away from the crowds. Since it doesn't have any places with extreme elevation gain, the relatively short distance to the Dewey Point which is an amazing place, and the overall scenery in the meadows on the way to Dewey Point I think this is a perfect trail for beginners. The only downside is the mosquitos are awful in some places but on the second day the long pants definitely helped.

Thank you for watching!
