This photography video provides a quick tutorial on how to change perspective to create a better subject for your photo.
Perspective is a very powerful tool in photography. The difference between a an average photo and an image that captures attention can be as simple as changing the angle and avoiding the view that everyone sees. It's about presenting things so others see the world through your lens. Taking the time to select a subject and assess it from different perspectives is important. Not just with your eyes but through your camera. Photography is about more than pulling out a camera and pressing a button once or twice. It takes patience and planning to take good photographs.
Walk around your subject. Set your camera in position and look for distractions to what you are trying to capture. Pick it up and move to another spot. Play with angles and heights. Once you have chosen where you want to take the photo adjust the settings. Take multiple shots and a few extra if it's a location you can't easily return to later. Remember that you can make adjustments when editing for some things, but you can't "fix" a poor photo. Don't be afraid to remove things like power lines to isolate and draw attention where you want it.
