Catching the Daxing express in Beijing
Hi travellers,
This video shows catching the Daxing express subway from Daxing airport to join line 10 of the regular Beijing metro. It costs 35RMB or 50RMB if you prefer business class for a little over 20 minute ride on the subway from the airport to Caoqiao station on line 10.
Hopefully they fix the self service machines and remove the need for ID so foreigners are able to use it. As you can see in the video I had to join the queue to buy a ticket and no ID is needed for that, it's just a hassle. It is the same on the return journey.
Also when I reached Caoqiao and wanted to buy a normal subway ticket at the machine for some daft reason there was also a barrier to put in ID card. Fortunately some lovely person saw me cursing and put in there's. It may be some reminder of the outbreak, but it's a pain and completely slows the journey.
The Daxing airport express was quick, clean and fairly quiet (except for some patrons who speak loudly). It's easy to follow and is quicker than catching a Didi because it goes fast. Perhaps it is worth getting out at Caoqiao and then catching a Didi to your destination to avoid the further hassle of packed public transport.
There are plenty of places for your luggage and the signs were easy to follow.
