A big part of growing up is learning how to keep your inner child alive and well. This one’s for mine. 🦋
This world is great at telling us how to be and who to be. And if we’re not careful, we can easily find ourselves living fake lives from shallow intentions.
One helpful way I’ve found to stay true to myself and authentic to my nature is by reconnecting with myself as a young child. I wrote this song when I was eleven years old—just a little girl playing piano, attempting to express her love and appreciation for her older sister in song. Playing it for my family was perhaps the first time I really felt what it was to create a song that could move people to tears. It was possibly the moment I fell in love with this craft.
I decided to share this sweet little song here, despite its simplicity and imperfections, to honor the little girl within me who really doesn’t care if it’s rough, because she knows it’s really all about the heart.
I hope that this silly, childish share inspires you to let yourself be playful and free from the expectations of perfections that put limits on creativity.
