MKC Tandems running the Narrows
On Day two of my recent MKC course the river flow levels jumped up to 60 cubic metres per second after the Bark Lake dam removed two logs and allowed much more water to flow through.
The tandem course instructors declined to have their brand new students run the suddenly raging water and instead asked a number of instructors and advanced tandem canoeists to take the tandem canoes through.
In this video I am standing safety at the bottom of the narrows. If a boat had wiped out then I would have sent a throw rope their way and hopefully arced them into the eddy located right behind me. I am wearing a bug net so I won't be distracted by biting bugs and I just let the video camera run.
Although this clip shows three boats in actuality a total of five boats ran the narrows.
