The Lamu county Government in conjunction with the Jaffer & Jaffer foundation laid a foundation stone for a new clinic that will improve the health services in Lamu county.
Speaking during the launch, Lamu Governor Issah Timammy, said that his government has set aside a total of 79million shillings in his supplementary budget where 30 million is set to procure medicine, 45 million shillings will see the purchase of an oxygen plant, operation theatre, and an ICU at King Fahad Referral Hospital.
In addition, 4 million aims at digitizing the Hospital system to ensure a paperless service, adding that His government aims at dealing with medicine cartels who steal medicines from the General hospital and that in days to come, patients will not have to travel outside the county in search of medical services.
The National Deputy chairperson supreme council of Kenya Muslim and executive member of Riyadh Mosque, Muthar Shariff Kitami echoed his words and thanked Governor Timmy for supporting the noble project that will enhance healthcare services.
The clinic will serve emergency cases and ease the burden on expectant women who by the nature of Lamu streets couldn't make it to King Fahad hospital in time and resulting in the loss of lives.
