Breath of the Wild is in a very weird state right now. Arguably, Tears of the Kingdom has the better moment-to-moment gameplay. There are so many gameplay systems present in Tears that push the player into interacting with every aspect of it.
Fore example, in Breath of the Wild we had the weapon durability system. A clever mechanic that encouraged the player into constantly swapping between their weapons and going out of their way in order to collect newer, more powerful ones.
However, in Tears the player can now fuse items onto their weapons, which expands everything about durability. The player's goal isn't just to collect new weapons, but is instead to use their more powerful ones to take down stronger foes, scavenging for monster parts, and using every resource in their arsenal to obtain better gear.
This way of expanding gameplay systems is further seen on almost every one that made its way into Tears of the Kingdom. There are many new elements, new resources available to the player during combat, even the stable system now has a secondary motivation to interact with it in the form of a loyalty rewards program.
So, in my opinion, Tears of the Kingdom is the better GAME, but Breath of the Wild is the better game. What do I mean by that? Well, stick with me because that's what this video is all about. I'm going to be replaying Breath of the Wild and pick apart why I believe it to be the superior experience.
Keep in mind that this is not a definitive retrospective, there are already so many of those out there. If that's what you're interested in, I recommend you watch Ceave Perspective's.
So, without further ado... uh, video time.
