Leopard Gecko Feeding Made Easy - Leona The Geckoator Eats Dubia Roaches - #LeopardGeckos #Reptiles
Not to imply that a Leopard Gecko is at all 'difficult' to feed apart from occasional finicky preferences they might exhibit which is of course our (The Keepers) job to sort out and work with. This is just my method - which employs a simple mini 'wall' with 'shipping tape' applied of course - to prevent insects from climbing over. Sure, Leona easily accepts hand feedings, but I try to make that the exception - not the rule. After all it is surely beneficial to our reptiles that they maintain their predatory instinct as much as possible so at least the physical activity of pursuing the prey affords some much needed exercise in the tiny artificial worlds we provide for them. We wouldn't want Leona to lounge around on a throne and be hand fed insects in the manner in which a reclined portly Roman ruler is hand fed grapes dangling from the hand of a servant now would we!
It is not always necessary to awaken her from her slumber for a feeding. Often she awakes according to her 'crepuscular' internal alarm clock - though she was awakened this time for the planned Filming of this video.
