The Evergreen State College Expedition Disaster
In February of 1979, an expedition team consisting of 27 inexperienced student mountaineers from Evergreen State College would attempt to ascend the nearby Mt. Rainier, with the team being led by one of the pioneers of sport of mountaineering, however, not all who set off from the Paradise Parking Lot would manage to return to their vehicles with their lives intact. This is the story of that fateful ascent attempt.
