Ember Celica
When I started modeling RWBY weapons and putting them on this channel 5 years ago, I had always intended to make the main 4 weapons. The two that intimidated at the start were Crescent Rose and Ember Celica. One, for the number of moving parts; the other because of how it folded onto itself. At this point I have done Crescent Rose twice, but I had still been on the fence about doing EC. I had felt that I needed to improve my skills to give it justice. Also, the fact that it got upgraded to include a mechanical arm and more didn’t help. When asked if I was going to do it, I always said “one day”… well today is that day! I finally feel like I have substantially improved my skills and have the confidence to do more creative things with my models and animation.
I had fun figuring out how Ember Celica works. I wanted to duplicate the transformation as much as possible, but also tried to make sure things didn’t just appear out of nowhere. I’d like to think I did a good job at that. I also tried to do some of the things she does in her trailer and current animations.
Also if you’re wondering, “why the spinning transformation when she normally just expands it?” In the episode when we get to see her current upgraded arm for the first time and they are about to jump off the ship, she does this spinning trick with it. I just loved it so much. That little animation displays so much of her character--at least that’s what I think.
The cut in slash is from Fate/ Grand Order; it’s part of Musashi Noble phantasm. It just fit perfectly as a transition into her robot arm.
