AGENT ORANGE - UK VETERANS EXPOSURE
In 1966, the 2nd Battalion, the Scots Guards, were on a training exercise in Canada when they were exposed to Agent Orange. They received no warning and were given no protective equipment.
We know that, after Agent Orange was used, during the Vietnam war by the USA, many veterans suffered lasting effects and were later recognised with compensation by the US Government.
In 2007 the Canadian Government recognised and offered compensation to Canadian veterans and civilians, that had been exposed to Agent Orange, during the testing of this herbicide, on a Canadian training area in 1966 & 67.
British Soldiers were also exposed, firstly during the Malayan Emergency - in the late 40's and 1950's and then again in 1966 - 67. The UK Government has, to date, not compensated its Soldiers that were exposed, many of which have died or have suffered horrible side effects.
