On September 15, 1963, KKK members planted a bomb at Birmingham's 16th Street Baptist Church, killing four young girls during Sunday school. The FBI identified the bombers but J. Edgar Hoover suppressed evidence for decades. This act of terror became the catalyst for the Civil Rights Act of 1964, proving that even the most horrific violence could not stop the march toward justice.
