"It’s been a little while since our last project, but we are super excited to be back amongst the releases again as we introduce you all to this brand new LP from our very own Mitaka. At Simply Deep we champion new and vibrant sounds as much as possible, whatever genre it may be, if it’s deep, dark and straight up nasty, we want to be involved!
This project comes in a slightly different format to our usual releases however, as Mitaka showcases his uniquely colourful production ability in the form of an old-school ‘beatstape’, never lingering for too long on any one theme, being always ready to skip to the next. We kick off with mellow, choppy, lofi melodies and heavily syncopated drum structures of ‘Swinging’, before drifting dreamily into the more haunting organ rolls and punch ready drum slaps of ‘Daydreams’. Next, the more contemporary trap-like arrangements and bubbling 808’s of the title track ‘Astral’ launch, followed by the more up-tempo yet super dreamy ‘Headspace’ and super minimal wonky slices of ‘Delphino’.
The final tracks pick up where the first five finish up, with ‘Purple Thang’ pulling out some nostalgic sunshine sampling, ‘Riding Clean’ providing a more club-ready rolling atmosphere and ‘Lifestream’s bubbly composition putting the final touches on a stunning production showcase. Mitaka is clearly a producer with a lot to offer, and we couldn’t be happier to have him involved with the Simply Deep family."
