Women of the Bible Miriam v2
Tradition says that Miriam and Aaron attacked Moses because his wife was from a different race. That can not be true because the Bible plainly shows that Miriam and Zipporah had the same great-grandfather, Abraham. Miriam had her faults, but she obviously learned her lesson and did not rebel against God again. However, she also had some very notable God-given talents as a prophet and a leader in a time when women were not known for speaking out. Miriam had a strong personality and led the children of Israel in worship. Her gifts and talents make her one of the few women to be named in the Bible. Her strengths teach us a lesson that God will use anyone He pleases to bring about His plan. Her weaknesses teach us that God doesn’t play around when He passes out judgment for things He sees as an abomination. Her life also teaches us that no matter how much God uses us our attitude can cause us to step too far and lose God’s good favor.
