Lizard (NES) playthrough FAILURE

Well, I WAS having fun with this cute little open world of an NES game. There's a bit of Legacy of the Wizard vibe to it, in that you have to explore a map all on your own, search for different abilities, and use those to find - and defeat - bosses. Not necessarily a great comparison, but not the worst thing ever. Save points are few and far between, and while the first boss I encountered had a save right before it, the next one made me go through a lengthy first portion before letting me defeat it. Nothing difficult, just time consuming, and something I don't like.

However, the game came crashing to a halt when the password system didn't actually save the progress I'd made. With only 5 digits I figured, sure, it'd lose things like the timer and coins, but it was far worse than that. ALL the password system saves is what lizard you are, and what save you're at. It doesn't even recognize the boss progress you've made. What's the point of a password system that doesn't save progress? This renders the NES playthrough useless.

Supposedly the PC version has a form of auto save, so maybe I should use that. But the entire point was to examine the NES games. And that makes this NES game a failure. -- Watch live at   / the_nametag
